Fraternities and sororities provide affordable housing for more than 370,000 college students across the U.S. On many campuses, this housing provides a home away from home for members, fostering brotherhood, community, and academic development. Unfortunately, your donations made locally or nationally for Delta Tau Delta housing are generally not tax-deductible except for very specific educational purposes as monitored by the Internal Revenue Service.

The Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act (CHIA) would allow for charitable funds to be given to existing foundations. Those donations could be earmarked for housing and facility purposes to allow for safer, more modern and affordable fraternity and sorority housing. Originally introduced more than 10 years ago, CHIA has enjoyed a strong history of bipartisan support because it would make higher education more affordable with a minimal cost to taxpayers by offering a less expensive housing alternative.

The 115th Congress is beginning to consider comprehensive tax reform. We want to ensure CHIA (H.R. 1200/S. 736) is included in that conversation. We need your help!
