Checking In With Investment Guru Todd Ruppert ’78

R. Todd Ruppert ’78 is the Founder and CEO of Ruppert International, Inc., a firm with diversified interests globally in various fields including disruptive technologies, financial services, education, publishing, arts and entertainment, and youth development. He serves on over 20 boards globally, is a serial angel investor and has produced three movies, a musical and two TV shows.

Todd is also a venture partner with Greenspring Associates, a venture capital firm with $4.0 billion under management. He is the chairman of several firms, board president of London’s Royal Parks Foundation (USA) and board member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, INSEAD business school and Furman University, among others. He was a founding board member of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in the US and a global ambassador of the International Award.

In 2012 he retired from T. Rowe Price, a global investment management firm with over $750 billion under management. He was board member, CEO and president of T. Rowe Price Global Investment Services, board member and co-president of T. Rowe Price International, and a member of the operating steering committee of the T. Rowe Price group.

Many of the members on the swim team with Todd were Delts, and the dorm was the closest one to the pool, making it easy for early morning practices. This certainly helped sway him in the direction of Chi Chapter. Todd still keeps in touch with a number of those swimmers, including Tim Glasser and Jim Parker, who is also on the Kenyon Board of Trustees with Todd.

Todd certainly misses all the times of healthy camaraderie and is thankful for how it prepared him for his role as a CEO.

“Being a CEO requires good communication skills and dealing with multiple viewpoints, among other talents,” he said. “Delta Tau Delta’s membership helped me in communicating and negotiating with people.”

Todd was also featured in a recent article by Deirdre Brennan, the founder of Hedge Fund and private equity news provider, FINalternatives.

Brothers are encouraged to check Todd out on LinkedIn.
