Remember When?
Thanks to Ed Ames '53 for submitting his pledge memories.

"Back in 1949, Bill Hurd and I were pledging. We were sent on a scavenger hunt, the ultimate prize to be a book of matches from the Camargo Club in Cincinnati. We had to hitchhike, but the folks who picked us up were really great. Outside Mt. Vernon, we were picked up by some guy, roughly our age, driving a ’37 Dodge, souped up. We very soon hit a red light, another young cowboy driver pulled alongside us, shouted some derogatory mark and, the light changing, popped his clutch and bolted ahead. Our driver, without a thought to nervous Ames and Hurd, took off too, soon pulled alongside the challenger, then slid into ninth or tenth gear and damn near flew ahead of the challenger..."
